During the recent holidays MOCAH’s Queens of Creativity volunteered for a workshop with the Tahirih Justice Center. The Tahirih Justice Center is a non-profit that provides free legal and social service support to immigrant victims that have suffered severe forms of domestic abuse and sexual assault.
Queen Elisabet Gonazlez Barranco and Queen Amanda Flores led various ages of children in creating holiday ornaments with up-cycled jewelry donated from business Charming Charlie. This amazingly talented group of artists worked to creatively encourage and inspire young girls and their mentors. This was a small escape from the participant’s daily life and a perfect opportunity to focus on Unity and Hope.
MOCAH’s Queens of Creativity wanted the message to carry with the children in a form of an ornament so that they could create a thing of beauty but most importantly reflect on something positive that they can look at every year.
